Continuing to reach new Heights...

Highway Plant Co. Ltd was established on 24th November 1983 by current Managing Director David Houston and his wife Norma. Today it is still a privately owned family run business.

Highway pioneered the use of access platforms in Northern Ireland by educating users to the safety benefits and timescale advantages to using hydraulic platforms rather than the traditional manual ladder and scaffold approach.

In July 1987 Highway moved into its current one acre Head Office premises in Dunmurry, Belfast. Topper RZB trailer mounted platforms were added to the fleet permitting customers to tow away an access platform for the first time and subsequently created the foundation of the hire fleet available today. In 1989 the first self propelled Snorkelift TB60 boom lifts were added to the fleet as well as a range of Marklift Scissor platforms. During the early 1990's the hire fleet grew with the addition of Benford Scissor platforms and Genie booms, this versatility ensured that Highway played a part in many of the major developments in Northern Ireland at the time.

A reputation for safety and expertise resulted in Highway's success in the supply of access platforms to innumerable prestigious clients all over Ireland.

The Company premises were re-developed in 1995, and today house not only the Hire and Administration staff, but also a purpose-built Training facility, and an expansive Logistic Department capable of servicing customer access platform requirements the length and breath of the country. Today Highway's specialist access platform fleet is comprehensive and ranges from one man pedestrian personnel lifts right up to Superbooms.

Throughout the years, Highway's ethos has always remained the same, to encourage and promote safe working at height by providing excellent highly specified equipment and customer service which is second to none. This, in conjunction with the commitment and reinvestment in staff training, has ensured that Highway remains at the forefront of the access industry.

If it's Height... it's Highway!
